On June 18, 2024, BOKU organized an engaging online event lasting 1.5 hours to discuss the future of precision agriculture in Austria. The event began with a presentation of the results from the PR4 project, followed by an interactive focus group workshop. The goal was to collectively reflect on the skills needed for the agricultural professions of tomorrow.

To make the session even more dynamic, a card game was used to explore the skills of different professional profiles. Six participants, including three from outside BOKU, exchanged ideas on technological scenarios in a setting that adhered to confidentiality rules and effective time management. The discussions highlighted the growing importance of interdisciplinarity and adaptability in future agricultural careers. It became clear that roles will evolve to combine technical, agronomic, and data management skills.

Participants especially appreciated the interactive approach of the workshop and the collective reflection on the challenges ahead for the sector. It was a great opportunity to share ideas and anticipate the exciting developments awaiting agriculture!
